GOOD SAMARITAN OUTREACH MINISTRY

"To enable those in need to regain self-esteem; to become self-sufficient, productive citizens, and to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior."

The Wesley Chapel UMC Good Samaritan Outreach Ministry was created in October of 1994. Fifteen core members attended the ministry's first meeting in November of 1994 and agreed to name the ministry "The Wesley Chapel Homeless Ministry". The mission of the ministry, at that time, was to be a "holistic ministry, providing spiritual, moral and financial support to people who were indigent and homeless in an effort to enable them to become productive and self-sufficient."

Guided by the Holy Spirit, the ministry immediately began meeting the needs of the community and made several accomplishments during its first year. These accomplishments include providing clothing and bedding to a family whose apartment had burned, providing winter clothing and coats to a displaced family of five, and adopting the Boulevard Homeless Shelter where the ministry served meals once a month.

Today, the ministry continues its commitment to do God's work through providing similar services to the community. Although the name of the ministry has changed, the primary focus and mission remains the same, to help those in need while making disciples for Jesus Christ.
